See Enoeda, Kanazawa, Nito, Tomita as they demonstrate their particular brand of Shotokan. Enoeda sensei was known as ‘The Tiger’ of Shotokan, or ‘Tora’ and was truly a legend. Watch as he sweeps both legs from his opponent and then follows up with his devastating punch. His performance of kata is simply inspiring, executed in a way that leaves the watcher in no doubt about the power of Enoeda sensei.
Tanaka sensei is also seen in action at the JKA, and he is now widely considered to be one of the last of the ‘hard JKA’ men, following the untimely death of Enoeda.
Some of these clips were recorded over 25 years ago, and are unique archive film. Enoeda is seen in his early days at the JKA (circa 1960) as well as in the 1970’s. Kanazawa, Asano, Nito are shown performing both kata and kumite.
