Funakoshi Invitational Cup - The setting - Bucharest 2001 -- an international Shotokan event featuring some of Europe's finest fighters. Although the standard throughout the entire event was excellent, the kumite was a real 'blast from the past' with the FAJKO rules of adjudication in use. There were some unfortunate injuries, two of which were of a serious nature, but fortunately no long term damage. It is sad that this level of combat is disappearing, but when measured against the potential physical damage that these fighters are capable of, it really was inevitable. However, for those that long to experience the adrenalin rush that accompanied kumite in the 70's and 8o's this DVD is a must.
